The seizure occurred at 1.15 am on March 8, 2026, following intelligence gathered from multiple maritime zones. The lorry was driven by a man with two workers, aged 19 to 47, and the vape devices were packed in 56 boxes, intended for transport via a fiberglass boat to a neighboring country. The MMEA has detained the lorry and the three individuals, and the case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967. Authorities have pledged increased patrols and enforcement to combat smuggling, particularly with the upcoming festive season.
