The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) successfully prevented the smuggling of over RM500,000 worth of e-cigarette devices. During an operation at the Kuala Sanglang jetty, authorities intercepted a lorry carrying nearly 16,500 vape devices of various kinds. The seizure occurred at 1:15 am, based on prior intelligence. The vehicle was operated by a man with two local workers, aged 19 to 47, and the devices were believed to be destined for a neighboring country via a waiting fiberglass boat. The lorry and the three individuals were taken into custody for further investigation under Sections 135(1)(a) and (d) of the Customs Act 1967. The MMEA has pledged to increase patrols and enforcement efforts, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming festive season.
