Wife of disgraced Oxford off-licence owner to open new shop

Oxford Mail
The wife of a man prosecuted for illegal vape sales is opening a new off-licence in Botley, Oxford.

Summary

Avret Singh Lalpurwal was prosecuted for selling illegal tobacco products, including vapes, at his Oxford off-licence, Uni Food & Wine, which subsequently lost its licence. The shop was rebranded as TNT Convenience Ltd and is now run by his son, Rajmeet Singh Lalpurwal. Now, Lalpurwal’s wife, Manpreet Kaur Lalpurwal, has applied for a licence to open a new off-licence, “Botley Booze,” at 133 Botley Road, with proposed opening hours of 8am to 11pm. The premises were previously a Chinese takeaway called Green Bamboo. Lalpurwal is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29th for the illegal vape sales, and Trading Standards seized over 1,400 illegal vapes from his shop since 2022, seeking to recover approximately £19,500 in proceeds of crime.
