Gregory Townsend is suing Magma Holding, the company behind EightVape, after a vape battery purchased online exploded in his pocket in March 2024. The explosion resulted in extensive second and third-degree burns on his right thigh and hand. Townsend’s attorneys allege the device had a battery too powerful for its casing and that Magma Holding and EightVape were aware of the defects. The lawsuit claims the explosion was caused by “poor design, use of low quality materials, manufacturing flaws, and defects.” Townsend is seeking damages exceeding $75,000 for physical injuries, scarring, loss of enjoyment of life, and lost wages, citing defective design, negligence, and breach of warranty.
