A Belarusian Interior Ministry official announced on March 18th that a complete ban on vapes is not recommended for Belarus at this time. Initially, the ministry supported a total ban, similar to those implemented in Central Asian countries. However, the official explained that Belarus lacks the border controls necessary to effectively prevent the influx of vapes from Russia, citing a “very high” risk of illegal supplies. Vasily Demidovich, deputy head of the department for organizing the work of juvenile inspections, highlighted this issue during a press conference at the BELTA press center, referencing the experiences of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. He stated that without sufficient control over goods flow from Russia, a full ban would be ineffective.
