Attempt to Smuggle RM750,000 Worth of Vape to Neighboring Country Foiled

The General Operations Force (PGA) in Kota Bharu successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle RM750,000 worth of vape products into a neighboring country during an operation in Taman Bahagia. Commander of the Tenggara PGA Brigade, Ahmad Radzi Hussain, stated that the operation, dubbed Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan, involved collaboration with the Kota Bharu Customs Department and the Tumpat Criminal Investigation Division. During a raid at approximately 2:30 AM, a man was spotted suspiciously attempting to open a storage unit but fled upon noticing authorities. A subsequent search of the unit revealed 1,800 electronic cigarette devices and 3,800 liquid cartridges, totaling 114 liters. The case has been handed over to customs for further investigation under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967. In a separate incident, 14 Myanmar nationals and two local land smugglers were arrested in Kampung Chat, Tumpat. They were found traveling in two vehicles without valid identification, and the smugglers are suspected of receiving RM500 per trip to transport the foreigners to Johor. Authorities seized 20 mobile phones and two vehicles, valued at RM170,000, and the case is being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
