DFA seizes more than 7,600 illicit products from vape and tobacco stores
Summary
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted a joint operation between March 5th and March 17th, resulting in the seizure of 7,636 illicit or non-compliant products from 28 vape and tobacco retailers in Central, Northwest Arkansas, and Hot Springs. The seized items included 5,640 illicit vape devices, 1,214 non-compliant e-liquid products, 314 intoxicating hemp-derived products (including Delta-8 and Delta-9), 57 THC edibles, approximately 3 pounds of suspected marijuana/hemp flower, and 411 untaxed tobacco products. DFA Regulatory Enforcement Director David Potter emphasized that ignorance of the law is not a defense and highlighted the commitment of most permit holders to compliance. DEA Special Agent in Charge Steven Hofer praised Arkansas DFA’s enforcement efforts, calling them a “gold standard” and noting the operation’s impact on insulating communities from international drug trafficking.
