Around 20 Singapore residents found with vapes at checkpoints in past week
Summary
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) detected 42 cases of travelers possessing e-vaporizers between March 24 and 27, as part of Singapore’s ongoing anti-vaping efforts. Approximately 48% of these cases involved Singapore residents – citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders. A total of 240 e-vaporizers and related components were seized. The ICA reminded both visitors and residents to comply with Singapore’s laws, warning of potential pass revocation, deportation, and re-entry bans for repeat offenders. These increased checks come ahead of tougher anti-vaping laws taking effect on May 1, which include harsher penalties for importers and suppliers, including potential jail time and caning.
