The DOH highlighted Baguio City’s successful implementation of local ordinances prohibiting vaping and smoking in public areas, stating it demonstrates the possibility of creating “clean air and a safe environment” for communities. The health department reiterated its call for all LGUs to adopt similar policies, encouraging them to pass ordinances banning both vaping and smoking. Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa has also previously urged lawmakers to enact a national law banning the sale and use of vape products, and the DOH continues to promote its smoke- and vape-free template for LGUs to implement.
