A nationwide survey conducted by Kellyanne Conway for the Vapor Technology Association (VTA) reveals significant bipartisan support for reforming the FDA's regulatory framework for vaping products. The poll, which surveyed 1,204 registered voters, found that 71% support replacing the current PMTA framework with science-based standards. Additionally, 77% of respondents favor allowing non-youth-targeted vapor products with pending applications to remain on the market during regulatory transitions.
The survey highlights a desire for balanced regulation: 65% support flavored products for adults, provided youth protections remain intact. Conversely, there is overwhelming support for strict youth protections, including 86% support for robust age verification and 84% support for tougher penalties for retailers selling to minors.
The VTA argues these findings advocate for a streamlined, science-based pathway that distinguishes adult access from youth prevention, potentially benefiting smaller manufacturers and promoting U.S.-based manufacturing.
