The States has confirmed that a new excise duty of £2.20 per 10ml will be introduced on vaping liquids from November 9th. This measure aims to bring vaping products into line with other excise goods like tobacco and alcohol, while also supporting regulation and raising revenue. The duty will apply to all liquids intended for vaping devices, regardless of nicotine content or container type, and will be paid via a Customs Declaration. However, travelers arriving on the island will be allowed to claim duty-free status on the first 50ml of liquid for personal use. The move follows similar policies implemented by Jersey and the UK this year.
