According to a Wall Street Journal report, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to unveil measures in the coming days to speed up approvals for vaping products and nicotine pouches. The agency plans to revisit a 2021 rule on new tobacco application requirements and could simplify scientific study requirements and shorten review times to allow more products to gain authorization. Tobacco companies have long urged President Donald Trump and key officials for a faster and clearer FDA authorization process. The report also noted that HHS stated the Trump administration remains committed to keeping nicotine away from children, removing counterfeit vaping products, and providing safer alternatives for adults seeking to quit smoking. Last month, the FDA allowed marketing of three new JUUL2 e-cigarette products, following a series of nicotine product approvals aimed at offering alternatives to traditional cigarettes.
