Thomas Stone student charged after more than 30 THC vaping devices seized
Summary
A 16-year-old student at Thomas Stone High School in Charles County, Maryland, was charged after a search of his bookbag revealed more than 30 vaping devices containing THC in their original retail packaging. School administrators learned on October 13 that the student had reportedly used a vaping device on a school bus on October 9. An investigation led to the search, and an additional THC vaping device was found on the student. A school resource officer charged him with possession with intent to distribute drugs and possession of cannabis. In a separate incident on October 13, an 11-year-old student at John Hanson Middle School was found with a vaping device that tested positive for THC; no charges were announced for that student. Both students face disciplinary action under the Charles County Public Schools student code of conduct. The sheriff's office urged parents to discuss the risks of unregulated vaping and THC products with their children.
