VIDEO: Suspects ram car through front door of Central Texas vape shops
Summary
Two locations of the Drip N' Rip Vapes shop in Central Texas—one in Cedar Park and one in Pflugerville—were burglarized when suspects backed vehicles through the front doors to steal merchandise. The latest incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 20, at the Cedar Park store, where thieves took about $3,000 worth of disposable vapes in under three minutes. Just over a week prior, the Pflugerville location was hit, losing over $8,000 in product. Owner Lacy Hobble suggests the thefts are linked to the recent ban on disposable nicotine vapes from China under Senate Bill 2024, making them harder to obtain legally. Hobble estimates total losses from damages and stolen product at $50,000, noting that insurance is unlikely to cover the damages due to the high-risk nature of vape businesses. Despite the break-ins, the Cedar Park store reopened for business by 10 a.m. the same day. Police believe the vehicles used were stolen, and no suspects have been officially identified, though detectives noted other local stores have experienced similar ramming burglaries.
