Basil Wang Zhuang Zhen, 23, has been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act for possessing 28 Kpods – vape pods containing the controlled drug etomidate – with the intent to traffic them. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) raided his home at Block 27 Marsiling Drive and his rental vehicle at Woodlands Checkpoint, seizing 33 vapes and pods, 104 bottles of cough syrup, and over 3,500 tablets of prescription medicine. Tests confirmed etomidate in 28 pods, and authorities believe these items were intended for sale. Wang was offered $30,000 bail, and his pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 14th. The charges come after the government increased penalties for etomidate vape offenses on September 1st, with harsher punishments including longer jail terms and caning.
