BJP MP Anurag Thakur has requested Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to take action against a TMC MP for allegedly using an e-cigarette within the Parliament building. Thakur raised the issue on Thursday, stating the act was a clear violation of parliamentary rules and the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019. He noted the act was “clearly visible” to several members present. The Lok Sabha secretariat is currently reviewing recordings of the proceedings to determine appropriate action. The 2019 Act completely prohibits the manufacture, production, import, export, transport, sale, and advertisement of electronic cigarettes in India.
