Malaysian Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced the government will proceed with a full ban on e-cigarettes and vape products. The Cabinet Memorandum (MJM) detailing the ban is being finalized for submission, aiming for implementation by mid-2026 or the end of next year. This decision is driven by increasing health risks associated with vape use, including contamination with harmful substances like synthetic cannabis. A special committee, led by Dr Ismuni Bohari and Prof Datuk Dr Lokman Hakim Sulaiman, is currently studying the societal effects and legal implications of the ban. The ban will be implemented in stages, starting with open-system devices before expanding to all vape products.
