Government looking to ban single-use vapes
Summary
The Irish government, through Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, has initiated the Public Health (Single-Use Vapes) Bill 2025 to prohibit the sale of single-use vapes. This action is part of a broader strategy to decrease smoking and vaping rates, particularly among young people, and prevent nicotine addiction. The rise in popularity of these vapes, due to their affordability, ease of use, and appealing designs, has coincided with an increase in vaping among children. The government also cites environmental concerns, as single-use vapes contribute to unnecessary waste. Further legislation is planned for 2026 to regulate vape flavors, colors, and newer nicotine products like pouches.
