Norton Vape in Stockton, Teesside, and the flat above it have been issued a three-month closure order following a hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court on December 18th. The closure came after complaints from the public regarding the sale of illicit cigarettes and vapes to children. Trading standards investigations revealed the sale of counterfeit cigarettes lacking proper health warnings, stored to avoid detection. A total of 28,940 illegal cigarettes, 326 pouches of illicit hand-rolling tobacco, and 47 illegal vapes, with a combined value exceeding £33,000, were seized in joint operations with the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit. Stockton Council officials stated they will continue to enforce laws against the sale of harmful illicit products and encouraged the public to report suspicious activity.
