59 cases of large-scale cross-border vape smuggling detected in 2025 with help of foreign intelligence
Summary
Singaporean authorities detected 59 cases of large-scale cross-border vape smuggling in 2025, resulting in the seizure of approximately 230,000 vapes and related products. This success was attributed to intelligence sharing with foreign counterparts through the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, Central Narcotics Bureau, and Singapore Police Force. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) actively collaborates with e-commerce, social media, and messaging platforms to remove online vape listings, and works with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to block websites targeting locals. Over 10,000 online advertisements were removed in 2024 and 2025, with the vast majority linked to overseas platforms. Authorities are continuing to enhance enforcement and public education efforts, alongside stricter penalties for vaping offenses implemented since September 1st of the previous year, including the classification of etomidate found in vapes as a Class C drug.
