Perak Vape Ban: Traders Given Until October To Comply
Summary
The Perak state government has decided to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes and vapes within the state, but is providing a grace period for traders to comply. According to Datuk A Sivanesan, chairman of the State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee, traders have until October to cease operations and clear existing stock. This leniency is due to some traders holding valid sales licenses that haven't expired yet. The ban was initially announced on October 1st of the previous year, with enforcement originally slated to begin on January 1st. Sivanesan emphasized that legal action will be taken against those who continue to operate illegally, stating the ban is for the sake of public health and community safety.
