Rother District Council is considering revisions to its penalty point scheme for taxi drivers. The proposed changes introduce new offenses, including vaping inside vehicles, parking on pavements or in disabled bays, and deliberately driving away from passengers with assistance needs, such as those with disabilities. A six-point penalty will be issued for refusing service to disabled passengers. Drivers accumulating over 11 penalty points will face a review by a council licensing panel, potentially leading to further disciplinary action. The scheme will be put to a full council vote if approved by the Licensing and General Purposes committee.
