Vaping could be banned in all pubs under new Government law
Summary
The UK Government is planning to consult on extending smoke-free rules to include vaping in pubs and other indoor venues as part of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill. This bill, initially designed to create a “smokefree generation” by preventing the sale of tobacco to those born after January 1, 2009, also addresses restrictions on vape flavors, marketing, and retail licensing. A ban on disposable vape sales was already implemented in June of last year. The bill is currently at the report stage in the House of Lords and, if approved, would give the government the power to expand smoke-free regulations to include vaping in enclosed public spaces. While many pubs already voluntarily ban indoor vaping, this law would make it a nationwide legal requirement. The government will consider the economic impact of the proposed measures during a full consultation process, guided by public health advice.
