Poland is set to amend its health protection law, effective January 18, 2026, to prohibit the sale of heated tobacco sticks with “characterising flavours” – any discernible taste or smell beyond tobacco itself. This change, adopted on February 21, 2025, will treat heated tobacco products similarly to traditional cigarettes regarding flavor restrictions. Specifically, flavors like fruit, menthol, herbal, spice, vanilla, and candy will be affected. Products authorized before the law’s enactment can remain on sale for up to nine months to allow for market adjustment. The aim is to create a more uniform market focused on classic tobacco flavors.
