Library bans handed out by Worcestershire County Council
Summary
Worcestershire County Council libraries have issued 87 bans in the past five years due to a range of unacceptable behaviors. The majority of bans were issued for threatening, disruptive, or aggressive conduct towards staff or other library users. Specific incidents included urinating in a bin at St John’s library and near the entrance of Redditch library, theft of a library PC and other property from The Hive, damaging library property, and soiling furniture. Bans ranged from one month to six months, with the longest ban given for intimidating behavior at Kidderminster library. Council officials emphasize that these incidents represent a small percentage of overall library users and that they are committed to maintaining safe and welcoming spaces for all.
