Anglicare's The Junction launches new ACT vaping service
Summary
Anglicare's The Junction Youth Health Service in Canberra has launched a new vaping cessation service, "Nicotine Knockout @ The Junction," to address the growing issue of nicotine addiction among young people. The service, available free of charge to ACT residents aged 24 and under, offers evidence-based support including education, counselling, and access to nicotine replacement therapy. According to Narelle Luff, Senior Coordinator at The Junction, they “regularly see young people struggling with nicotine addiction.” ACT Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith highlighted that recent research indicates a significant number of young Australians use nicotine products and desire to quit, but face difficulties. The initiative received $660,000 in funding over three years from the ACT and federal governments and aims to provide early intervention, harm reduction, and tailored support to young Canberrans.
