Service to help young people quit vaping
Summary
A six-month pilot program, QuitVape, launched by Public Health Services in collaboration with Action for Children, concluded at the end of December in Guernsey. The service was designed to support young people aged 12 to 18, and care leavers up to 25, in quitting vaping, following new regulations banning vape sales to under-18s. 29 individuals utilized the self-help booklet provided. Public Health officials noted the pilot provided “access to the right support” for those wanting to quit, while Action for Children highlighted “positive change” in reducing vaping use among participants. Discussions are underway to determine the future of the service, with officials emphasizing the importance of continued support as access to vaping products decreases.
