County tightens rules on vape, smoke shops
Summary
The Raleigh County Commission unanimously approved amendments to county code on Tuesday, further restricting vape and smoke shops. These amendments build upon an ordinance passed in July of last year, which already limited the locations and signage of these businesses. The new rules regulate how close vape and smoke shops can be to sensitive locations like churches, playgrounds, and certain businesses, as well as restricting storefront advertising. Specifically, new shops must be at least one mile from other vape shops, schools, or daycares, and cannot display images of psychedelics, marijuana, or related paraphernalia. Signage restrictions also include prohibiting flashing or moving lights.
